This is a decent hotel a few blocks from the hauptbahnhof. The room I was in was small, but it was clean and contained the basics, including a large TV. The staff is very nice, and though it is close to the train station, it is in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms have no A/C, but there is a fan. It didn’t really get too hot when I was there, but it’s something to keep in mind if visiting on a warm day. There is internet available, but it costs around 4 euro for one hour or 12 for 24 hours.
Directions: A few blocks south of the train station
Best Western Plaza is convenient to most of the tourist sites and the professional and business quarter. The hotel is clean, service is excellent and the breakfasts offer great variety.
Access to public transport is only a short easy walk away as is the pedestrianised main shopping zone.
We did have a room with three beds and the camp bed was simply too uncomforatble tfor an adult to sleep on but there was a good queen and single bed so we were not very disadvantaged. (Would have been OK for a child)
So what did we not rate so highly? Not very much really; Just the small size of the bath for one and the noise for two. The former you have to accept, and the shower was OK and the latter is made so much better if you pack your corridor door, as most of the noise results from others opening and closing doors in the small virtually airtight access corridors. This causes the individual room doors to bang against their frames. (A small piece of self adhesive foam you get from many stores would cure the problem doors once and for all.
However, these were really minor matters. Ours stay was great, staff friendly, and the Plaza would be my first port of call when I return to this City!
Unique Quality: Modern hotel, relatively new, with well heated controllable rooms yet good window ventilation as and when required from modern tilt and hinge windows.
The most memorable characteristic was the excellently presented and wide choice of breakfast - including bacon, egg and sausage, in case you don't like a vast selection of cheeses, cold meats, salami, and smoked salmon!
DM 130 in 2001 for a double room with breakfast, bathroom & shower.
Unique Quality: Not very unique, but affordable and clean. In spite of being close to the train station, it seemed to be in a safe area. It is a 5 - 10 minute walk from the station.
I would like to know how is the place near the hotel. How safe is it? Near transportation. Please help!
Best Western Plaza Frankfurt
Which place do you mean? Baseler Platz, Westhafenplatz or Rottweiler Platz
The Gutleutviertel (quarter) is not the most exclusive in Frankfurt, but safe.
The hotel is south of the Hauptbahnhof, the main railway station of Frankfurt. One of the biggest railway stations in Europe. Distance 300-600 m (depends if you want to reach a train, a S-Bahn or a U-Bahn).
Thanks for the help, but...the plaza?
