Sorry, this should be a "must see" but I have no space anymore :-)
Palmengarten is a bothanical garden located in FFurt; interiors are recreated (with climatic conditions) to host a lot of different kind of plants and flowers; the outside area is a nice park to relax and walk few minutes from downtown but in a "green" environment.
There is also a restaurant but it was closed during Xmas 2002 break :-(

Book fair dates
by Nemorino
The Frankfurt Book Fair is held each year in October. They now seem to have settled on a rhythm of five full days, from Wednesday to Sunday (no more Monday mornings).
The first three days are reserved for us trade visitors, and on Saturday and Sunday the fair is also open to the general public. On Sunday the publishers are allowed to sell books if they want to. Usually the small publishers do and the big ones don’t.
The dates for the next few years are:
12-16 October 2011 (Guest of Honour Iceland)
10-14 October 2012
09-13 October 2013 (Guest of Honour Brazil)
08-12 October 2014 (Guest of Honour Finland)
14-18 October 2015
19-23 October 2016

Sculpture in the cathedral
by christine.j
Tourists usually turn left immediately after entering the cathedral and don't see the sculpture on their right. This sculpture shows Jesus on the cross, together with the two criminals executed with him.One of them looks towards Jesus, the other one does not.
The citizens of Frankfurt commissoned this sculpture in the year 1500 and had one criminal- the one that looks away from Jesus - dressed in the costume of the knights at that time. These knights used to ride to Frankfurt and rob the citizens. They used this sculpture to show their fury and contempt and 500 years later we can still see that.
Heusenstamm
by MichaelFalk1969
Heusenstamm is a small, all in all unspectacular town close to Frankfurt. It is worth the visit nonetheless mainly because of the beautiful church St. Cäcilia, built in 1739 by famous architect Balthasar Neumann (who is also responsible for the Würzburger Residenz palace) for the Duchess of Schönborn. The church is decorated with remarkable ceiling frescoes.
Other interesting sights include the Schönborn Palace (now a restaurant and - partly - town hall), the Torbau (city gate) and a few pretty half-timbered houses in the Old Town quarter.
