There is Sportarena, close to the Hauptwache station, behind the church, and there is SportScheck, close to the Konstablerwache station, in Schäfergasse. Both are large stores, where you may find American football equipment.

Travel Tips for Frankfurt am Main

Bridges of Frankfurt

by tini58de

Whereever you have a river you will have bridges - and Frankfurt is not any different! I was surprised to find quite a few pedestrian bridges over the river Main - as well as regular street and train bridges as well, of course! For a great variety of pictures, have a look here.

Finding your way around the book fair

by Nemorino

At the Frankfurt Book Fair 2004 there were 6,691 exhibitors from 110 countries, spread out over eleven floors of five large exhibition halls. To help us all find our way around, there are numerous signs, maps and information stands all over the fairgrounds.

Each year the fair features a country or group of countries as guest of honor, with numerous cultural presentations in the Forum building. Guest of honor at the 2004 fair was the Arab World, in 2005 it was Korea.

German Finance Capital

by MarioPortugal

Frankfurt is home, I guess, for a quite few hundred assorted banks. Therefore, the city is considered the German Finance Capital.

Actually, since the ECB - European Central Bank is also based here, it should also considered Europe Finance Capital :-)

See the Baha'i Temple in the Suburb of Langenhein

by eric_ives

The Baha'is of Europe have a temple, actually called a "Dawning Place of the Mention of God" (Mashriqu'l-Adhkar) in a distant suburb of Frankfurt (Langenhein). The temple is constructed in a modern Bauhaus-influenced style to fit the German taste, or at least what was the German taste when it was constructed in the middle of the 20th Century. The temple is surrounded by beautiful flower gardens, and there are hosts who might show you around if you appear interested. Many of the German Baha'is were exterminated by their fellow Germans during the Third Reich, but there are some few left; many seem to be immigrants and refugees from Iran.

Odenwald

by MichaelFalk1969

The Odenwald area - roughly one hour south from Frankfurt - is very pretty and features some romantic little villages. My personal favourites are Heppenheim with its medieval castle and pretty Old Town, Michelstadt with its famous timber-masoned townhouse and Lorsch with its abbey that dates back to the times of Charlemagne.
