Nice hotel in a small town in Germany

I stayed the night I was in Langen in Maxx, one of the three hotels in this small and quiet town. Perhaps, they would not need as many in the town as small as Langen if it was not for the Frankfurt airport 15 km away and noticeably lesser rates than at the airport hotels. The ride to and from the airport is nice and takes only about 15 minutes, with shuttle buses running every half an hour from the airport to Maxx and vice versa.
Designed to represent "the America of the 1930's-1950's", I did not feel too much touch of Vivendi Americana (perhaps because for someone who had lived in the States for 7 years the difference between the U.S. and Germany was still going to be far noticeably larger than any sprayed flair and scattered paraphernalia designed to blend the two), although the grills of the restaurant downstairs do churn out American burgers and chicken wings at fast order for the avid fans of these all-American treats.
I booked the hotel, via Lufthansa in Valletta, Malta, for 59 Euros a night, which compared somewhat favorably with 80 for a night at Novotel at the Frankfurt Airport and more for the likes of Sheraton and others (if also right at the airport). Make sure - if you are there, like I was, for a day or less - that you have enough in Euros to pay your bills, as Maxx does not accept payments in US dollars and the exchange rates there are prohibitive - you would only get 80 euro cents on each dollar they will convert for you (at least, as was the fiscal case on March 15, 2003) and the only bank close enough to walk - Sparkasse of 200 meters to the right of Maxx when you exit -does not accept 100 US$ bills (the only large bills I had on me).
Still, the 3 star German Maxx offered by far much more superior quality, comfort and, if you wish, luxury than the 4 star Maltese Forum where I stayed right before in Saint Andrews, Malta.
