I know I mentioned it before, but I think it is quite interesting here and very typical for this region. Places where you may have wine tastings directly and where to be in direct contact with the vintager.

For me it``s one of the most unusual museums I have ever been in. The museum documents the “correction” measures and judicial system of medieval times as well as the time of witch persecutions in Germany.
You will get a feeling how the medieval authorities (including the church) acts in forcing the "bad" people to made a confession about things they had never done. It`s cruel in your mind, but also very fascinating for those who care for history and a bit strange museums :-)

Burg Lahneck is a really interesting castle, built high above the place, where the river LAHN flows into the Rhine.
The castle dates back to 1245 and you may visit it with a guided tour only.
Tours are daily 10.00a.m. - 05.00 p.m. between easter and end of October.
Unfortunately I did not go inside, as for the next tour I would have to have waited 1,5 hours :-((
Just a few meters from the castle, you may see a great restaurant with a lovely terrace facing the Rhine-valley
The most special bit is the way TO the monument. You can walk across the vineyards or take a cable car. Nevetheless it is rewarding to arrive too. You get a great view back to Rüdesheim and see a long stretch of the Rhine. There is also a nice forest walk and an eagle centre. The monument itself can be seen even from the trains on the other side of the Rhine as it is huge. It is a well known patriotic monument from the time of wars with France. Avoid the all too typical German mountain restaurant in concrete.
Between two showers we went up by cable car to the Niederwald monument it is really impressive to see , I believe it is 17 metres high.
The view from the monument at Rüdesheim and the Rhine is wonderful. On a clear day you can see France and the black forest in Germany.
