Landgasthof Deutsches Haus: Not really worth it
When booking this hotel on www. hotel.de, the address given was Steinau an der Strasse. The hotel is actually located in a sleepy little town called Ulmbach, which is a 20 minute drive from Steinau. This was quite disappointing, because I wanted to be able to explore Old Town Steinau that evening. Once we got out there, we felt we were kind of stuck out there. Dinner at the hotel's restaurant was disappointing. Not that there was really anything wrong with it. The food was cooked properly and all, but it just wasn't what we wanted. It was a typical German menu--it just wasn't...good. The room was large enough to accomodate two adults, a 4 year old, and a 1 year old. It was clean--not sparkling clean, but clean--and the bathroom was large with a big tub. The room just needed an overhaul.
The guesthouse/restaurant itself is quite large. When the owner showed us to our room, we went through three separate dining areas to get to the staircase. Then there were two floors for guestrooms, and a basement (which apparently is where the owner's family gathers every morning). The got me to thinking that this use to be THE PLACE to stay in the area way back when. The locals still hang out at the restaurant's bar to watch football and gab.
Breakfast is included in the price, and it consisted of rolls, sliced meats, cheese, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and cereal. All in all, it wasn't a bad place to stay, but I would try to find something in Steinau next time.

Landgasthof Grüner Baum: Traditional Inn
This place has been catering to guests since 1811, because it used to be next to a stage coach changing station. It's changed hands since then, but it's still a nice family-run low-budget guesthouse, with a nice restaurant. Rooms are very clean and have baths.
Unique Quality: The food is pretty good here, and has local and international fair. They have a big coffee and cake special on sundays and a beer garden.

Burgmannenhaus: Quality Hotel
Nice family-run hotel for people who really emphasize quality, especially the rooms - very clean and fresh. The hotel restaurant is nice and specializes in local fare.
Unique Quality: This isn't a wellness farm, but it is nice. The restaurant has a nice beer garden patio, and a wine cellar that specializes in Frankish wine. For cold days they have a tiled oven to sit next to.
