Bar 1486 and "Ingelheimer Zimmer"

I have not stayed overnight in the hotel so I can not comment on the room facilites.

Unique Quality: BUT,

I had a coffee and cake in the Bar 1486. The staff was very friendly and after asking whether it is allowed to take pictures I was asked if I wish to see the "Ingelheimer Zimmer". I did not know about it before but was very surprised when I got the chance to see it.

Great Location

The building is old but has been updated. The bathrooms in the rooms are modern and the hotel is kept clean. There are definite signs of wear, but that is to be expected in a building of historical nature. The staff is friendly. Valet parking is availalbe for 20€ per day, or you can park yourself at the Coulinstrasse Garage just a few blocks from the hotel. You will not save much money parking yourself, so I recommend the valet. The rooms in this hotel are quite large by European standards. There is a nice restaurant in the hotel with a small courtyard for outdoor dining when the weather is nice. I stayed here for two weeks when I first moved to Wiesbaden and it was a great place to stay. All rooms have internet connections, but sometimes the wireless is hard to get to work in some rooms. I did not have any problems, but my boss did. The technical support was available and was able to get his working.

Unique Quality: The hotel has a thermal bath in the basement. Wiesbaden is famous for the thermal baths. It also has a special meeting room that is adorned with carved wooden walls taken from old German castles. It is very cool. The room is accessible just off the bar next to the lobby entrance.

  • Opinion of Price: more expensive than average
