Romantic help needed...
by tashaw6
It will be my husband and my 1st wedding anniversary on the 25th of September this year. We fly into Frankfurt from our holiday to South Africa on the 24th of September 2005. It is my task to organise our anniversary day...
My idea so far would be to get a limo to pick us up at the airport and drop us off at a hotel situated on the river (or close enough to see the river). Then take him to a romantic restaurant that evening (or just order in...).
The next day I would like to take a trip down the river (have champagne breakfast on the boat if possible). And because the 25th is a Sunday we have to get back home that same day so nothing that will take to long this day.
Ok, so my question(s)...
1. I need help re the hotel? I need somewhere that has a nice BIG bath (jaccuzzi bath would do...). It must be nice in other words...It must be close to a restaurant or have a restaurant at the hotel. It must be on or really close to the river cause we're going to have to walk there...
2. I need a contact number of the boat that goes up and down the river (or a way or means to contact or find the boat place...)
3. Any other help or suggestions that you may have to make this day even more special. he has really spoilt me this year so I have to make this one special!
Thanks guys!

If you want a tip on somewhere close that is romantic along the Rhine, try Bacharach. Very pretty place and can be reached both by boat and trains (via Mainz if you are in Wiesbaden I think).
Bear in mind that it is the wine season in September so you will do right booking accommodation well in advance. :)

Andechser in the cellar of the town hall
by chancay
well, maybe more off the beaten path than local costum, but I found this poster there describing the seven beers of Andechs....some yummy beers, especially the "Doppelbock" is a quite nice "hammer" beer....some more alcohol than a normal one....;-)
The Kaiser-Friedrich Therme is...
by djennewein
The Kaiser-Friedrich Therme is a beautiful and relaxing bathing palace. Opened in 1913, it was built to resemble the luxurious buildings of ancient Greece and Rome. The bathing here is textile free (woman's day: Tuesday) and entrance fee is 31.50 DM for 4 hours. Health services ranging from massages to soft packs cost extra.
Balkan food from Sarajevo
by merak about Ba Mim
Now you'll find "Ba Mim" there, whith Chevapchichi (better than in Mainz) offered in Balcan style. Often it is the imam of the Bosnian mosque who works there.

Bistro Silam, later Öz Harput in Bleichstr.
If you are bored about all Turkish places having the same food, try this one, although there is no place to sit comfortabily. Here you find some typical dishes of the Black Sea region not offered nearly in any other restaurant. Quality and taste are very fine, also because they make the dough themselves.
You have read wonders about cig köfte but not found them anywhere? Here you can taste them on friday and saturday, for 5 Euro a plate.
Others: Tantuni, Patile, Iskene, Sirin
Manti, Gözleme, Yufka, Döner, liver

Rathaus
by antistar
Wiesbaden's town hall is a huge Neo-Renaissance building that dominates the streets and squares all around it. It was built between 1884 and 1887, but the front of the building had to be restored in 1951 after war damage from Allied bombing. The current facade is a lot simpler in design than the original, which must have been quite a sight. To the front of the town hall the pavement is decorated with the German Imperial eagle, flanked by the lillies of Wiesbaden and the lions of Nassau.
