University and 'Fountain of Joy'The first university of Rostock was founded in 1419. The main university building is built in the Italian Renaissance style and dates from the mid 19th century. The ornate terracotta relief provides a charming contrast to the pale rendering.In front of the building it the 'fountain of joy'.
