While in Rothenberg stay at the Hotel Breiterle. It is very small and accomodating. The owner Hans is a great host,and he lived in Miami, Fl. so he is very fluent in English.His family has owned and operated the hotel for more than 100 years. The location is perfect for walking around the village and is only about 100 yards to the square. On a larger scale stay at the Hotel Gerberhaus, it is located outside the wall, but is still convenient to everything.
80DM--100DM (double)with breakfast, ofcourse. The best hosts imaginable!

Hotel Gerberhaus in Rothenburg, Germany.
When we stayed there in August of 2001, the price was about $70 U.S./ nite. A nice bed and breakfast close to the town square.

$55-60, about 120.00dm The rooms here were very nice with equally nice bathrooms. There is a restaurant here, but we never had the chance to have a meal there.

Frankfurt to Rothenburg

"Planes, Trains, and lots of walking"

We landed in Frankfurt on Saturday August 24th at about 1pm. We took the train, about a 3 hour trip to Rothenburg ob der Tauber and stayed overnight there. This is a picture of the Flughafen (airport) train station in Frankfurt as we prepare to board our first of many trains over the next two weeks.

Ah, the excitement of the first train ride. Here Kyle & Jen can barely contain their excitement as we embark on our first of many train rides over the next two weeks.

Then, sadly, the novelty of travelling by train wore off for Kyle & Jen.

Here is our fabulous self-timer photo or our group in the town square of Rothenburg after 26 hours of travelling. We left Minneapolis at 7:30 pm on Friday night, flew to Keflavik, Iceland, had a one hour layover, then flew to Frankfurt, Germany. We took the train from the Frankfurt Flughafen to Rothenburg ob der Tauber which was a 3 1/2 hour trip.
