Nice calm hotel beneath a park
It is a hotel in a big solidly built house beneath a park and canal area at calm side streets - but anyway walking distance from city center. Internet WiFi was free, and it worked in the room (2nd floor). The rooms have new wooden furniture, new bed, new desk and new wardrobe. The bathroom and the room wall paper and carpeted floor are older, but the room and bathroom cleaning was very good. The room had a large window going into the park area, you awake from hearing the birds singing in the morning, if you leave the window open - very nice. You can rent a bicycle nearby for 10 EUR/day (Hahne), and Braunschweig has wonderful river areas for paddling (Oker-Cabana, 8 EUR / h for a 2-person kayak). The Technical University is about 2km distance from the hotel.
