Climate

Hannover's climate is very mild. It rains very often, but not too often. I use my bycicle almost every day and I very seldom get really wet. There are only a few days in the year, when I leave my bycicle at home, because there is too much snow or the rain is too heavy. We had a very nice and hot summer in 2003, when we went to the beach at Lake Maschsee almost every day. In spring a walk in our city forest Eilenriede is a wonderful experience, when all the flowers bloom and the birds are singing.

Overview of Expo 2000

A ride in the cable car was no unnecessary luxury. The terrain is huge and you could hire little electric cars to drive around. We didn't but we did use the (expensive) cable car to go from one end to the other.

By train, the station is just right at the center of the city.
By plan, but it is just a national airport.
GVH network, the public transportation network has been greatly improved because of the Expro. Once I asked the local people if they complain about having so many visitors to the Expro everyday. They answered yes, but they went on saying that since the Expro will leave an improved transportation network, they can take the uncomfortableness for the short term.
The network is divided into different tariff zones, so read the networkmap before taking on the bus or tram. There is a day group ticket, which is a very good offer for visitors.

The cookie (cover) is thick, crispy and has strong smell of almond.
Very tasty!!!!! During the stay, we went and ate every day. I recommend espresso.
There are also some other flavors, such as strawberry, strawberry + cream, lemon, cheery, maple, pear etc.
gorilla mountain

This is quit an attraction. A gorilla mountain. Don't be misguided. These aren't the rare mountain gorilla's. You wont find any of those in a zoo
(there is one case where there is a lot of doubt - want a pic , write to me)
But these are the more common western lowland gorilla. They got a spacious outside that is really a must see visually. The gorillas seem to be quit happy and did some serious family expansion. More pictures from these magnificent animals in the album below.
Gorillas live in family groups with one male leader and about 4 females. Gorillas are vegetarians and quit gentle animals. Sometimes a younger male (a son of ..) travels along with the group as a peripheral male. He protects the group. Females usually have one young evry 4 or 5 years and how smarter the animal the less instinct the more they will have to learn from their mother.
