Hello all,
I met an internet booking for Hotel und Gästehaus Will, Hannoversche Str. 41,
Hannover Altwarmbüchen. Sorry about the strange characters in the text but thats the way it came out in my confirmation email. Does anyone know how i can get to this hotel from the city? I don't have a car so its buses or trains i will have to use...
The following is the directions i was given in my email. Naturally, without a car these are of no use to me:
"Motorway A2 from Dortmund, exit Lahe. On the first traffic light go right. Go straight on and after 3km you will find our hotel on the right side. Motorway A2 from Berlin, exit Lahe. On the first traffic light go left. Go straight on and after 3km you will find our hotel on the right side. Motorway A7 from Hamburg, exit Altwarmbüchen Kirchhorst. Go right and after 500 m you will find our hotel on the left side. Motorway A7 direction Hamburg, exit Altwarmbüchen Kirchhorst. Go left and after 500 m you will find our hotel on the left side."
Hope someone can help me with this.
Also is difficult to get to Bad Oeynhausen and also to Munster from Hannover?

From 11. June 2006 there will be a Stadtbahn (kind of tram) to Altwarmbüchen.

To Munster and Bad Oeynhausen you can use the Lower Saxony Ticket if you travel with local trains (S-Bahn, RB, RE, ME). A day ticket, but on weekdays only valid past 9am.

Lower Saxony Ticket (2-5 persons) EUR 24,00
This ticket covers also all local public transport in the Hannover region (e.g. the Stadtbahn to Altwarmbüchen).

Sounds complicated business to get out to the place.... mind you i dont mind goin back into the city to get to my locations.... all are within a reasonable distance....
It is Munster near Soltau that i want to visit... hope that won't be too much of a problem... Mind u, it's another chance to see a little known part of Germany for an irishman... always a plus :)

??? A Stadtbahn line which brings you straight to the Hauptbahnhof (main railway station). That's not complicated at all.
The Munster near Soltau is the one in the Lüneburg Heath.

i had it on good authority that the only way to eat a bratwurst sausage is with mustard and curry powder sprinkled on it. so i tried it, and it was quite yummy! as alot of my friends here on vt know, i am a huge fan of the sausage. getting to eat holli's sausage, erm, i mean, getting to eat sausage with holli was a highlight of my stay! so much so, that i ended up trying it in hamburg too :)
HANNOVER... is off the beaten path ANYWHERE!!! It's even more off the beaten path that I thought - until I saw the cow on this balcony ;) The nicest balconies are in 'List' and 'Oststadt' - my favourite area of Hannover to live! Our flat had two of the loveliest balconies actually :)
This place makes a good bagel and the best Chai latte I've ever tasted. They play cool music, and the staff are very friendly. I've given up speaking German here because they hear the accent and insist on practicing their English. You can sit outside on a nice day, and even take a dozen bagels home. Chai Tea Latte accompanied by a chocolate, chocolate chip muffin or any bagel toasted with butter.
A Mexican restaurant where we didn´t see any mexicans in the service, but probably in the kitchen as the dishes were quite well and autentic, I´d say. The service is normally quite quick and good....
the music got on our nerves somehow as they played 4 hours long Raggeaton...not the best back ground music for eating and conversations... The Mai Tais are not very good, the Long Island Ice teas are ok ;-) ..I had fajitas con verduras and was very happy with my dish, my colleagues had no complains either
The opera house was built in 1845-52 based on a plan drawn by Laves. Originally it served as the royal theatre, as the king considered the theatre in the Leineschloß too small. The new opera house is a classical style building with two large wings and a balcony with statues of famous poets and composers. The balcony used to be open so that visitors could drive straight to the entrance in their carriages. Nowadays they can use the stairs to the underground car park. Hannover's opera house was badly damaged in the Second World War an rebuilt in 1948. In 1985 the acoustics were improved and between 1996 and 1998 the stage equipment was restored.
