CeBIT 2004

by mhashish

Hi everybody ,
I'll come to visit Hannover CeBIT 2004 exhibition , I want to find a good place to stay for the week of the event.
Is there recommendation?
Thank you

Hi,

it is very difficult to find a place to stay during the CeBIT in Hannover. The hotels cost double price than the other times.
A lot of families have private guest rooms during the CeBIT.

But you can try www.hrs.de for a hotel or www. mitwohnzentrale.de for a private room.

Take care
Karin

hello, I try the website (wt longer URL) for a private room, but came out an adult page. Could you please check the URL again? I look for one double room for CeBIT 2005. Thanks a lot!

Travel Tips for Hannover

Weather

by sabsi

The normal day temperature in winter would be from -10C up to +10C - you never really know what to expect. Same in summer ... we had summers with only 20C but sometimes also 40C.... Better check the internet for a forecast before you go - they are normally right.
Oh and .. if you come for CeBIT. This is normally the time when we have the first nice spring weather in the year - in 2001 it didn't work though!!!
The picture shows an outdoor ice rink at Steintor in winter 2001/2002.

English Movies: Cinemaxx...

by mmcnie

English Movies: Cinemaxx Raschplatz & UFA Palast
Both of these theatres tend to show at least one English movie per week. Cinemaxx is your standard movieplex, but the English movies tend to be on a smaller than standard screen, but still plenty big. Palast is cheaper on a weekend and will often show stuff other than big blockbuster type films. But the theatre is tiny (5 seats across, 15 rows) and the screen is about the size of a big-screen TV. n/a

Der Gartensaal

by nepalgoods

Inside the New Townhall is the Gartensaal, a very nice bistro and restaurant, which serves excellent cuisine. In summer you can sit outside and have a splendid view of Maschpark. Icecream and salads are great here.

New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus)

by Childish

There are two buildings in Hannover that I find extremely beautiful - the new town hall and the Leibniz house... I really don't remember how much time I spent staying in front of the new town hall and admiring it.
Built bewteen 1901 and 1913; designed by the architects Hermann Eggert and Gustav Halmhuber.
Go inside. In the lobby there are four models - how Hannover looked like in the Middle Ages, before WWII , in 1945 and today.
Take a lift to go to the town hall's dom. The lift is unique because it is inclined at 15 degrees.
The dom offers you a bird-eye view of Hannover. (costs 2 Euro)
We were there in the evening - I think the town hall is opened twice in the week in the evening hours - I am not sure if it was fridays and sundays, pls check.
(I do not remember why I haven't taken any pictures from there... maybe because I took more than 30 outside...)

Fleamarket

by nepalgoods

Hannover has one of the biggest and oldest Fleamarkets in Germany! Every Saturday people come from all over Germany to sell and buy. The market starts at 6:00 am and finishes at 4:00 pm. After visiting the fleamarket many people go to one of the many pubs nearby and have a beer.
