Am looking for a hotel recommondation. It should be near the Hauptbahnhoff, clean, safe and have double rooms for around 150 Euro. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

I recommand the Youth Hostel at the nice lake called Maschsee (10 minutes walk to the Hauptbahnhof). It`s very clean and cheap. Near the Hauptbahnhof I can also recommand the HANNS-LILJE-HAUS (tel: (0)511-1241-698 which is located in the Old Town of Hannover (Lovely). Great. There is also the IBIS at the Hauptbahnhof which offers special rates (tel. (0)511- 38811-0. Good luck.

4 to 5 floors, red roofs, two or three appartments in every floor, this is quite typical in a lot of orterngerman Cities.
looking at my pics I have the impression that or we have always this bad weather here in Hannover or I just made it again and again to just take pics when the sky is grey ....(I think it is more the second reason, although the last 4 months here were as grey as my pics are ...*written april 2006)
North of Hannover you find one of the most beautiful landscapes in Germany: the Luneburg Heath or Lüneburger Heide.
The Luneburg Heath is a beautiful countryside landscape between the Rivers Elbe, Weser and Aller, with glacial valleys, moraines, morainic plains, heathland, moors and forrests. There are plenty of marked trails for hiking and bicycles rides.

Hannover's streets are ideal for bicycles. There are many special paths for bicycles. No mountains to climb.
To rent a bike you can go to "Fahrrad Station" next to the train station. There you can also park your bicycle safely for some hours or days. That does not cost much.

near my working place is twice a week a little market where to buy veggies and fruits and as well you find there a stand with hot sausages, currywurst & french fries and as well a Fish stand where you can get fresh fish for take away and as well to eat there you can get several little self combined meals with a fried fish with salad or french fries . fried Grüner Hering (heering) with french fries ;-)
located in the heart of the old town is the 'old town hall', a beautiful, almost mystical looking building, dating back from the middle ages. it is from here that you can learn why the new town hall is called as such, even though the new town hall also looks very classical and 'old'!
this beautiful building, and the area around it, is filled with relics of the middle ages, although alot of course was remodelled after the war bombings.
