Good value, central, budget hotel

I stayed at City Hotel Hannover for 1 night during a weekend visit to the city in November 2007.

A single en-suite room, with buffet breakfast included, cost me 50 Euros per night. I booked via www.booking.com

Location

City Hotel Hannover enjoys a convenient central location, just 5-10 minutes walk from the central train station and a couple of minutes walk from the large Marktkirche church. The hotel is located on Limburgstrasse, a small, quiet pedestrianised shopping street. Many of the surrounding streets are also pedestrianised, including the main street of Georgstrasse (just 50 metres from the hotel), which includes a large choice of shops, cafes and restaurants.

Bedroom

My single room was tiny, but well furnished. It contained a comfortable single bed, a small wardrobe, a desk, a chair, satellite TV (approx. 20 channels, including CNN), a telephone and a bedside lamp. A city guidebook and a TV magazine guide were provided.

The best thing about the room was that it was very well heated – essential on a cold winter’s night. There was a radiator beside the bed and, due to the small size of the room, this kept the whole room constantly heated.

The en-suite shower room was small, but was fairly spacious relative to the size of the bedroom. I’ve stayed in bigger hotel rooms with smaller shower rooms than this one. It was spotlessly clean, hot water was always available and fresh towels were provided.

Unique Quality: .

General

The hotel reception is open from 7am until 11pm. Outside of these hours, guests are provided with a key so that they can enter the hotel via the back entrance.

I arrived at the hotel fairly early (9:30am) and, because the hotel was fully booked the previous night, I was unable to check in until midday.

A continental breakfast buffet is served in the ground floor dining room between 7am and 10am. This is included in the price of the room. I didn’t go for breakfast, so I can’t comment on the choice or the quality.

Wi-fi access is available throughout the hotel – at a cost of 12.5 Euros for 24 hours.

Secure car parking is available on nearby streets for 6 Euros a day.

A good value budget hotel right in the heart of Hannover city centre. Recommended!
