Can you find the rhino ?
I will be traveling to Hameln/Hannover area end of November and would like to visit a few different Christmas Markets. Any suggestions? Since I have family in Hameln I will be visiting that one.
I was thinking perhaps Goslar ? Visited there years ago and really liked the town.
I will not be able to go too far south of Hameln, not enough time.
I am flying out of Hamburg so thinking might try the Hamburg Christmas Market OR perhaps one on the way up to Hamburg.
I really enjoyed Hamburg Chistmas Market. Went there every year between 2002 to 2006.
Definately stay some days in Hamburg if you have time for that - it is my fave city next to Berlin in Germany;-) Great atmosphere - have a look at my tips and some images there.

But if you are in Hamburg anyway you should not miss to head to Luebeck - which has a famous and traditonal x-mas market. It is little smaller but also a very beatyful city – and famous for its marzipan. A must in x-mas time – although many hate it… But not me;-)

A little closer to Hameln, of course Hannover is an option. Goslar is always worth a visit. Apart from those, I'd like to mention Braunschweig has an enjoyable Christmas market around the cathedral and the so-called castle, quite atmospheric and some stalls with nice artisans' products.
The first fair was oppened in 1947, just after the WW2. The fair has been named as "Export Fair" ,and after few years developed into Hannover Fair (Messe). Now it is the biggest exhibition (together with Cebit) of the capital goods and equipment and goods in the world.
It is very large complex, but I have to admit that you will find anything you want here.
And of course, it is extremely expensive here-at least compared to the Hannover Center.
Every year in May the Spielbanken Marathon is a big event in Hannover. Beside the normal Marathon there are Inline-scaters, Kids-Marathon and a Marathon for people in wheel-chairs. I don't take part but I enjoy to watch the runners.
There are 3 Irish pubs in Hannover, and this one probably has the least authentic decor, but it is the friendliest. If you want to actually find a seat, not drown in cigarette smoke, and have a quiet pint while taking in the football or playing darts, come here. Interestingly enough the owner is the only non-English speaker. like any Irish pub...clothes required
In a warm and nicely decorated atmosphere, this bar restaurant owned by a Chilean woman is a nice choice to have dinner and drinks in the center. My personal favourites are the tacos as an appetizer and the corn pie as a main dish. As for wines they have a very good selection of Chilean and Argentinian bottles.
Most visitors to Hannover enter the city through our main trainstation. Even if you arrive by airplane, you have to take the train into the city.
Hannover's main station was build in 1876 - 1879 by the architect Hubert Stier. It was completely renovated in 2000 für EXPO 2000
The trainstation is a lively place with a shopping mall and some nice restaurants. In summer it is very nice to sit outside in a Cafe and have an icecream.
