It could be German culture, it...

It could be German culture, it could be the overcrowding in Europe, it could just be humanity's self-centeredness, I don't know. But you'll find people have a tendency to completely ignore your presence when going from place to place. That means NO eye contact, running into you on the street without a word of apology, pushing and shoving to make their way on/off the train when you are doing the opposite. I saw a woman push a teenager, completely turning him around, because he was partially blocking the supermarket entrance. She intentionally stuck her arm out and shoved him to the side without and acted as if it never happened. Try that in LA. All I can suggest is walk offensively, there is no point in being polite. When you get pissed off enough, push back, it's fun.

Greek food at the riverside
by Gerrem about Aresto
On our wedding anniversary (7th) we went to Aresto’s restaurant. You can also sit outside directly beside the Leine River in a very romantic atmosphere. For a Monday evening it was very crowded. A clue for a good restaurant… They have many different dishes; therefore it’s not easy to choose one. They also have a good range of wines. The taste of our food was better than average and very delicious. We had a good time there. Gyros plate
The Red Line Route
by oriel
You've heard of the "Yellow Brick Road" in the movie "the Wizard of Oz". In Hannover, you'll hear about the "Little Red Line". This is simply a red line painted on the floor/pavement in and around the City Centre and it loops round to almost every interesting locations or historical buildings within a walking distance radius to the City Centre. Don't worry about where you should begin on your adventure trails. This Red Line goes in a circle and will bring you back to where you begin no matter where you start off at. It takes about 3 - 4 hrs to cover the stretch of this Red Line but the long walk is well worth the effort.
Romantic Old Town
by nepalgoods
Living in the Old Town about 100 years ago meant to life in small and dark rooms with a low ceiling. The water had to be collected at a fountain. There were no toilets, not even public toilets. So in the living quarters of the poor the contains of the chamber pots were just poured onto the streets. You can imagine the smell! Of course there were also half timbered houses of richer people near the Market Church.
The Old Town of Hannover is full of horrible stories from this times, when the life was very hard. Specially famous is the story of Fritz Haarmann, a mass murderer, who lived in Hannover in the beginning of the 20th century. He was friendly with young boys, who had runaway from home. He spoke to them at the main station, took them with him to his small room and killed them there. It is said, that he partly threw the bodies into the near Leine River, partly he cooked the meat and ate some and sold the rest to his neighbours. He was finally arrested and executed in 1925..
Thanks to VT-member Leipzig for the pics. On his Hannover page he tells you more about facts and nicer things in Hannover.
