Hi,
I am looking for a place in Hannover that is open all night on a Saturday to Sunday night and allows me to sit in the warmth until my train departs at 6 am from Hbf. McD's, a Turkish restaurant, etc.
I thought about going to the airport, but at the time the concert ends that I am attending there will be no S-Bahn to the airport and I cannot afford a taxi, much less a hotel. The two youth hostels in Hannover are both full already.

According to the home page of Deutsche Bahn you will find a Mc Donald's and a bistro called "Damisch" at the main station of Hannover which both are open 24 h.
Elena, thanks for that. It took me a while to find the part of bahn.de with the train station info, but finally I found it.
I only hope this info is correct, I was at Hannover Hbf a few times overnight within the last 10 years, I cannot remember there ever a shop or bistro being open.
I spend in Hannover about a week back in 1986. Unfortunately I didn’t have a camera with me and I have no pictures. Obviously, I can’t remember any names of the places I have been visiting

How about watching a match of the local football team called Hannover 96?
The team was just promoted to First Bundesliga ... Yippeeeee! So now you can go and see them win against Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Maybe.... ;-) Dress in red :-)
Take a warm "Glühwein" (a hot redwine with orange fruit, cinnamon and some other condiments), buy gifts for christmas and enjoy the beautiful ilumination on the "Weihnachtsmarkt" (christmas market).
My favorite German restaurant in Hannover is 'Zum Kamin'.
'Zum Kamin' has a very familiar atmosphere. The owner of the restaurant serve the dishes themselves, and even Germany's chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder, comes to eat every once in a while. The prices are normal, and although there is this popular visitor, it has not become snobbish or something like that. The yummiest thing to eat there are 'Bratkartoffeln' (fried potatoes). You can add 'Suelze' if you like meat. This would be a typical dish for northern Germany.
The Landesmuseum consists of 44 galleries containing paintings, e.g. of Rembrandt, Rubens and Albrecht Dürer, sculptures of the 19th and 20th century, ecclesiastical art of the Middle Age, as well as a huge part of natural history including dinosaur models.
