Sight seeing

Hi, may I know what would be the tourists’ attractions that I should visit in Hannover? I will be flying and staying over there this summer for 1 week only.

A few suggestions:
The Herrenhäuser Gärten (former palace gardens) are really impressive; there is a botanical garden on the opposite side of the street, also quite interesting.
Don`t miss the colourful Grottoe of Niki de St. Phalle in the Herrenhausen Gardens (near the entrance).
Hannover has one of the best Zoos in Germany - you should not miss it. You can even make a boat ride along the african animal enclosures.
The Old Town Hall is quite impressive, too, also the University Building.
It does not have a real "Old Town" though, as it was destroyed in WW 2.

Thanks Michael for the suggestions. You made me more excited to see those places. I will definitely fellow your suggestions. I will be attending a big conference there and most probably many of those places mentioned would be in their agenda in the social event program, in case they don't include any of those I will make sure to see them on my own.

Hi
to be honest, 1 week for Hannover is quite a lot of time - it is not a bad city, but there is not so much to see compared to Berlin, Munich or other German cities (apart from the locations I pointed out).
Have a nice visit anyway!

I have been last summer to Berlin, Illmenau, Wiemar and Leipzig. I spent excellent time there.

Hi,
if you have the time you might consider a daytrip to a city like Celle, Goslar, Hildesheim. Those cities are quite interesting and not to far away by rail or car.

Hannover New Town Hall

Built 1913, with a wonderful view from the tower. You go up there with an old elevator. The diagonal lift in the Townhall dome is unique in Europe. At a 15-degree angle it covers the 43 metres up tolthe gallery at the top of the dome. From this vantage point one can enjoy a marvellous view of the whole city, even as far as the Harz Mountains when visibility is good.
Amazing. Downstairs in the townhall you find samples of Hannover city in the years 1689, 1939, 1945 and today. Four scale models of Hannover are on permanent display under the nearly one hundred metre high dome of the townhall lobby, showing the city as it was in the Middle Ages, before World War II, the destruction of 1945 and the townscape of today. These models are always immensely popular amongst the visitors.

The big but not very deep lake near the city center is full of big carps and home of many birds and fishes. The carps are normally caught just before New Year, as carp is a traditional menu for New Years Eve.
By car......

you have several possibilities to reach Hannover. From the west and east you will follow the Autobahn A2, from the south and north it´s the A7....
To get around, you I might can give you a lift too.... this is Sabsi with her green Lupo..... I have the same car but it´s dark green....
Zebra or Crocodile???

Mrs. Samberger serves South African specialities in her restaurant in Höver. She herself will serve the meals.... The menu has a wide range ........ The south african platter is very popular... It has a steak of ostrich, zebra, crocodile and springbok on it......all served with homemade pumpkin "Kroketten" and four delicious sauces....... My boyfriend Carsten especially loved the sauce.....
I had a pan with kudu stew, served with noodles and red cabbage!!!!
So if you really want something exotic, this might be a good joice.....
