Winterlicht - the winter festival in the Autostadt... This took place in winter 2001/2002 and it was a lovely idea. There was a hill for snowboarding/tobbogganing, you could build snow sculptures, go ice skating, climb a tower of ice or just enjoy the winter atmosphere....
Yes, I would say so..... Most of the inhabitants work for VW. Wolfsburg itself doesn´t have so much to offer. Sure you can find some nice places in every town, but most tourists who are coming here are looking for the "Autostadt" of VW. It´s a large exposition ground with several pavillons of the different VW branches like Audi, Skoda, Lamborghini and Seat, a museum etc.
I have been there in Januaray 2002 and there was a winter park build up inside the "Autostadt". So you could go iceskating, iceclimbing, snowboarding and toboganning there. It was fun!
I also visited the museum. A lot of old prototypes of VW etc are shown here. Beautiful old cars... And you can be tested like a VW is tested...You can test yourself as a shock-absorber, go through the very foggy tunnel, through the windchannel etc.
