VFL Wolfsburg

by vichatherly

Wolfsburg is a small German town in the north of Germany. I hadn’t been there before and so when the draw for the Champions League 2009/10 paired us together it was a good opportunity to get to a new ground.

We stayed overnight in nearby Hannover and travelled in for the day of the game.

We then travelled by minibus back to the Euro Tunnel straight after the game. It was a 6 1/2 hour road trip and we catch the 06:48 Channel Tunnel train. It was then back to work at 09:00...with plenty of caffeine.

"VFL Wolfsburg"

My visit to Wolfsburg was for the UEFA Champions League Group Match - Matchday six game.

Manchester United played VFL Wolsburg in the Volkswagen Arena on 8th December 2009. United won 3-1 with a great hat-trick from Michael Owen, therefore winning the group and qualifying for the next phase of the competition.

Autostadt

by Sjalen

Autostadt's car exhibition is what pulls the main crowds and here you get to find out interesting things such as how the factory was run by the British after WWII, who designed different models and what those were based on and of course, see the chronological history of cars in general. Here is the first VW beetle prototype! Sweet.

Classic VW!

A Batmobile???

In the car exhibition, there is also a science centre where you can explore cog wheels, wind resistance, solar panels and more. The whole family loved this reaction test where you had to hit the break pedal when the light turned red.

I just loved the wooden wheels on this!

A thing of beauty!
