Waldwinkel: Cheap and cheerful near Wolfsburg
We actually had a bit of trouble finding this place. It was quite late in the evening when we arrived and I think the lady was happy to have another customer as we only paid 10 Euros for the night.
There are good washing and laundry facilities near the main house.
I didn't take a picture as we were essentially just parked in the corner of a field and I never got round to it.

Campingplatz Allersee: Campsite next to VW factory
We turned up without booking and were given a space for the night under some trees near the entrance.
Near to Autostadt, Museum and Wolfsburg Castle. Easy to find. Can have a nice walk to the lake or up to the Mitteland Canal.
Facilities good and clean enough, not too expensive. Can't remember if you had to put money in for a hot shower? I think I did but it would only have been 1 Euro or something or like that....
Learn some basic phrases in German about camping to see you through. The man in the office seemed to open up a bit when I attempted to speak German to him even though I wasn't very good.
Right near to all the main attractions and yet still quite peaceful.
