Local housing websites
by Epipsychidion
Hey all,
I'm looking to move to Aachen for at least six months, starting sometime in August. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any good local housing websites so I can start looking for potential landlords. I'll be coming over next week and it would be nice to have some viewings arranged by then. :-)
Thank you to anyone who replies,
Epi.

For unfurnished apartmants look at

You can also look into aparthotel, which is studio flat already furnished with kitchenette, bed, table & chairs and so on.
Apart of the flat deposit you have to leave 300euro furniture deposit which will be returned to you once you leave;

Travel Tips for Aachen
A tour in Aachen
by Gili_S
Aachen is a very nice German old city. However, it would not be as nice and interesting without the wonderful VT member M-Joy and her friend that took us around this city as tour guides in the most professional way and lots of information. Thanks you very much guys :-)
Touring The City For The Footweary
by johngayton
The historical city centre is too compact and its streets too narrow for tour buses. Of course it is perfectly walkable and the the local tourist office offers a variety of guided tours. If you don't fancy walking though there's this two-wheeled motorised tour available.
I don't have any info as to who runs it but I'm sure the tourist office can give you the gen - www.aachen.de
Fountain Fables
by sandysmith
There are many other charming fountains - like this little boy holding up the fish - each with their own story to tell. Indeed if you are interested a guide can be hired to tell you all the stories relating to these fountains and sculptures - just inquire at the tourist office for details.
Karnival
by Pdr28
Each year in the month before Easter is the Karinval party. The main celebration is from the Thursday - Monday. On Saturday is the Childrens parade and on Sundy the 'main' parade. Floats and people march by throwing out sweets, cakes and other goodies. people come along with bags or umbrellas to catch the goodies. I didn't enjoy the grasping and grabbing aspect - people wouldn't let samll children to the front of the crowd and people would almost rip a packet of sweets out of hand!
Christmas Markets
by Imaniac
Of course there are Christmas markets all over the world. But the ones in Germany are the most famous I think. The X-mas market in Aachen is teh 5th largest maret in Germany. You'll find it at the City Hall. You can buy some nice Christmas decorations or have a bite of a local snack.
