in the hotel's courtard by teachertraveler I had two adjoining rooms here on my recent trip to Aachen with my parents and friend. We loved the place. The furnishings were simple, modern, and sleek. The beds were very comfortable, and we had nice little sitting areas too. The staff at the front desk was friendly, spoke English, and helped us a great deal with getting times for trains to Munich. The bathrooms were quite snazzy--fancy sinks and tubs separate from showers. Toilets were in a separate "closet"--a bit odd. Everything was clean and cozy. There was complimentary coffee and tea in the room as well as a mini-bar with cold drinks and snacks. We could walk to everything within 15 minutes--the old town, the park, the casino, etc. I would definitely pick this place again.
We had a fair view of some Aachen church steeples, and there was a quaint courtyard where we had lunch one day after buying our own food at a deli. There was a modern, chic restaurant and bar, but we were more interested in traditional German food, so we ate elsewhere. There were at least four bakeries nearby, so we had great, cheap breakfasts. Just a heads up: there were no washcloths here. We had to buy them at a nearby store because the staff had no clue what we wanted when we asked for them.
