Mövenpick Hotel
This is no doubt the most conveniently located hotel in Bielefeld, because it is right in front of the main railroad station.
They have 162 hotel rooms and also eight conference rooms, one of which I used for my presentation. I found the place pleasant though perhaps a bit stuffy and old-fashioned. The only real problem was with their audio equipment, but on the third try they came up with a CD player that actually worked.
You can get a room here most nights for under one hundred euros (which is double what I usually pay, but never mind), but what makes it expensive is that breakfast costs an additional EUR 14.50 per person. Anyway I didn't stay, but took the train back to Frankfurt the same night.

Movenpick Hotel Bielefeld
Excellent 4 star hotel. It's currently being renovated on the outside (Nov. 2003). Most rooms are non-smoking. The breakfast buffet is superb.
Unique Quality: A funny little gesture: in the bathroom you'll find a little rubber yellow duck on top of your towels. There are also tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
