RUB - Ruhr-Uni Bochum This is the architectural 'pearl' where I'm spending most of my time these days, studying English and History. I'll add more info later, when I have more pictures taken. Don't ask me why, but I feel kinda odd running around like some tourist with a camera at uni ;oPWhat you see in this picture is only a very small part of the whole campus. All in all, there are 4x3 (actually it's 3x3 and 1x4) of these box like buildings. These here are the buildings that belong to the medicine men =0). Check out the University-travelogue to read and see more (if you want to). ;oP
The castle ruin of House Weitmar was a fiefdom around the turn of the century. Originally it concerned a farm, the Schultenhof in Weitmar. This court is mentioned already in the 11th century. Together with the Weitmarer wood it belonged to the "Abtei Werden" (in Essen) and it was given away as a estate to nobility families. The families lived at first not even on the court, but let a farmer manage the court. In the second half of the 15th century House Weitmar became a knight's castle.
With an air attack on the 13th May, 1943 the House Weitmar was ruined. Up to the perimeter walls the old castle and the chapel - and with it also irreplaceable cultural and material values - were destroyed.
Not exactly restaurant but if you want something quick, this place has great Döner with great own pita bread and spicy enough by request. Service is fast friendly and excellent. The Döner / Chicken kebab.
Great deal for money, ONLY 1.99€
Bochum another town from the Ruhr area.
Bochum is one of the 3 or 4 direct Neighbors of Essen and that's why I am very often in this town. Especially for shopping. Also the River Ruhr runs through this town and it takes only 15 Minutes from Essen to get into the City of Bochum.
