Hotel Baden
For two stars the Hotel Baden is a very decent hotel with friendly staff, clean rooms, cosy beds and a lightning fast free Internet connection. Of course the speed might have had something to do with the fact that the hotel was completely empty, but the download speeds showed they had a very good wi-fi set-up. The location, in the downmarket but entirely safe Nordstadt, was not perfectly central, but just a short walk outside. It was ideal for the bus connection to the Cologne/Bonn airport, but you'll probably want to take a tram (from the convenient stop just outside) to get to the train station (less than one kilometer walk).
The daily rate is quite high by German standards, but for the Cologne/Bonn region it offers good value for money.
Unique Quality: Superb free wireless Internet connection.
