Rudesheim to Remagen to Koln

We want to go from Rudesheim to Koln with a pit stop in Remagen to go to the Peace Museum. Am I correct that train is the best way? Are Rudesheim and Remagen on the same bank of the Rhine or do we need to cross over? Also, about how far from the trainstation in Remagen is the Peace Museum? Are there places to lock up our luggage at the Remagen train station? Thanks all for your help.

Rüdesheim and Remagen are not situated on the same bank of the river, but you can book Ruedesheim (Rhein) -> Cologne via Remagen on DB's website nonetheless. You will possibly have to change trains in Koblenz.

A little less than a mile (1.2 km). After leaving the station, go down to the river (no matter how, just get to the river). Directly at the river, turn right and follow the river (south/up the river) until you see the remainings of the bridge.

As I had never looked out there for lockers, I used www.bahnhof.de which says there are no lockers. But maybe there are municipal lockers or the www.bahnhof.de is not correct on this.

I would really doubt there are lockers at the train station as half of the building is actually used by the city for other purposes. Quite close to the station is the Hotel Pinger and perhaps they would store your luggage for a small donation into the staff's kitty bank. It is definitely a good suggestion to head for the riverbank first, even though parts of the promenade are being renovated at the moment. There are quite pretty views across the river to the town of Erpel and the cliff under which the railway tunnel is located (Erpeler Ley)
