Language Problem
by babar_1
Non-German speakers face problems while communicating in Germany. The situation gets worst if you've lost your way and no body seems to understand you. In such case try to talk with youngsters as the young boys & girls (students) speak very good enlish, and contrary to their elders they feel no hesitation in doing so. On my arrival, I lost my way and whenever I asked the address of my hotel, every body explained in detail.....but in German language...and I could'nt understand a single word. At last a young student came and helped me.
Beethoven danced here
by Nemorino about Em Höttche
This pub right next to the old city hall was originally built in 1389, and served its purpose until October 18, 1944, when it was more or less totally demolished by bombing. From the pictures in the City Museum seems that after the bombing only a bit of the front wall was left standing.
It was rebuilt, however, it what I assume is the original style, and is now (again) a nice place to go after the opera and have a glass or two of Kölsch, which is a typical kind of light beer served especially in the Cologne-Bonn area.
They advertise the fact that Ludwig van Beethoven danced here with the local girls when he was growing up in Bonn.
Namen Jusu Kirche
by Rupanworld
The Namen-Jesu-Kirche or the Name of Jesus Church was being renovated during our visit to Bonn. I don't know much about churches. So can't say more. This Church is very close to the Beethoven Haus and at a walking distance from the Rathaus or the Am Markt.
Bonn's Rhine Bridges
by RhineRoll
Bonn has 3 bridges across the Rhine, of which all can be used by pedestrians, even though 2 of them carry large Autobahnen (motorways). Quite surprisingly, the most modern one also is the most beautiful one of them, IMO. This is a pic of the so-called Nordbrücke (North bridge) which carries the A 565 motorway. It also offers a beautiful view of the Rhine and Bonn in the south.
Bonn - Quiet and romantic city

"University"
The university of Bonn was founded in 1818. Beside me, it had other famous students: For example Friedrich Nietzsche (the famous philosopher). The park in front of the old main University building is a nice place to relax in summer
