Eigelsteintor

Eigelstein is one of Cologne's most diverse neighborhoods, and it was a sensory pleasure to wander through the streets here. It looks like a good place to have a Kölsch, too. The gate at the end of the avenue dates from the Middle Ages.
The statue in the left-side niche of the gate represents the "Kölsche Boor" or Farmer, ready to defend his city. "We may be poor, but we live well all the same," is the local slogan, and a good one at that!
Colonius -TV Tower

Unfortunately it's not possible to go up Cologne's television tower anymore. You can have a look at it though to see Northrhine Westphalia's highest TV tower (with 266 metres) and the obligatory magenta coloured T ;-)
Cologne Welcome Card
by BarryG01
Bus 170 is leaving every 8 - 12 minutes from Terminal 1 and 2 to Kýln-Deutz and Kýln-Dom/Hauptbahnhof.
The ride costs 5 EUR or is included in the Cologne Welcome Card, which is available at the airport for 24, 48 or 72 hours.
If Your Hotel Doesn't Serve Breakfast
by johngayton about Hauptbahnhof Takeaways
If you are staying somewhere close to the main railway station and want a nibble on the hoof, either for breakfast, light lunch or just a snack, then check out the main station hall. Here there's a clutch of friendly fast food places all competing against each other with burgers, freshly-made sandwiches, pastries, pizza and of course sausage all on offer.
Because there's so many of them they all usually have some sort of deal going, such as take-away coffee for one Euro with any sandwich, and prices are overall very reasonable.
Grab your snack and go and sit on the Cathedral steps to enjoy it. Of course for me it was sausage again - from the place pictured (the one on the left) - this time a substantial seeded roll, well-filled with salami and salad. But too early for beer and so the one Euro coffee was ideal. I think the sandwich was about 2.50 Euro.
Köln Dom: you can't miss it!!
by amyhenderson
The Koeln Dom, which you are looking at in the picture, is one of famous Gothic buildings in Europe. Men’s desire to be nearer to God is quite evident! That desire made men to
build the building as high as possible.
I was wandering through Cologne without a map (it's my favourite way to explore a city!!) when I rounded the corner and was faced with this amazing piece of architecture. It really is amazing, intimidating yet beautiful and calming at the same time.
Quite a site!!!
