Luggage Storage at Train Station

by ILuvManUtd

Hi

Would appreciate if anyone can advise:

1. Is there any manned luggage storage counter (not lockers) at the Cologne train station?
2. If so, what is the charges like?

Thanks..

Travel Tips for Cologne

Kölner Dom

by Bigs

Make sure you visit the Cathedral. Have a look at this fascinating dome, build over so many centuries. The beginning of the construction work lies in the year 1248, when the plans were formed to build a magnificent cathedral for the remaindings of the three kings, which have been in Cologne since 1164...

The cathedral like we see it today has been finished in 1842......Altogether it has been nearly 600 years to build up the several parts of this monument. Well there have been long breaks in between.....

It´s a wonderful church! I once climbed up the tower...but after I don´t know how many steps I had to cancel my walk. I fear heights and the last stairs have been a problem for me....so I was just able to have a look through some tiny windows....Must be lovely from the real top!!! But it´s a long way to go....!!! I have warned you!

4711 House

by Polly74

This house is the New Gothic head office of the famous "Eau de Cologne" manufacturer with a carillon that chimes every hour - opposite the opera. The number "4711" refers to house-numbering system adopted by the French occupying power in 1795.

Easy to get too from anywhere!

by bonio

Cologne has a small but busy airport, Lufthansa fly from London Heathrow and use different planes to the norm, Mrs Bonio impressed by this cute Canadair 70! Anyway bus#170 runs into the city centre in about 20 mins. The Hauptbahnhof and ZOB are next to each other, right beside the Dom, onward travel could not be easier either. Tourist office is just around the corner too.

When in Rome...

by christine.j about Frueh

When in Rome act like the Romans and when in Cologne, drink a Kölsch, the local beer.Although I'm not a beer drinker usually - I prefer wine - I liked the beer here. The brewerey house Frueh is touristy, but why not? After all we were tourists. And the beer is good.
Unlike in other places, you don't have to tell the waiters when you want another beer, you get this automatically as soon as your glass is almost empty. You have to tell them when you don't want another beer.

Chocolate Museum

by stiab3

The museum lies on a former-island which is now connected to the City-centre by a Bridge.

The museum-building is in the shape of a big ferry-boat and it is a must to visit. It traces the history of chocolate, from slavery to modern industrial production and includes the chance to taste this sweet brown delicacy fresh from a fantastic liquid chocolate fountain.

It also show modern production methods of various chocolate products. And ofcourse there is a shop where you can buy souvenirs . . . and a refectory!

When I visited in May 2005, there was a Chocolate Art exhibition on as well.
