hotels on map

by musicgal23

Does anyone know of a website with a map which pinpoints the location of hotels in Cologne? I know Expedia has one but many hotels are not listed. I am particularly interested in hotels near either Rudolfplatz or Neumarkt. Many thanks!

One of the Ibis hotels is definitely very close to Rudolfplatz. Try www.bookings.net :-) Have fun in Cologne -- the "Belgian Quarter" near Rudolfplatz is very nice!

venere.com also does pinpoint maps of hotels in different districts. I think the websites vary depending on the number of hotels they have an agreement with.

You could use ViaMichelin; it has streethousenrs. along the streets.

Beers 4, 5 & 6

by BarryG01 about ALTER MARKT

Around Cologne's "Alter Markt" there are lots of breweries and bars. Take a train to Cologne's main station and go by foot 10 or 15 minutes and you will arrive at the "Alter Markt" and you can go from bar to bar and meet a lot of interesting people and enjoy fresh beer - KOELSCH - as long as you want to!

Eventually this is a place to do comedic goose stepping

That delicious Jagerschnitzel

by Nathalie_B about Max Stark

I wasn't in this city long enough to explore every corner of it, as I'd like to. At least I got to taste my first, real Jagerschitzel. This place was recommended to us by friends and it turned into the best culinary experience on my 2006 Europe visit.
Max Stark is a small brewery-restaurant where Kölsch beer won't stop floating into your glass. If you decide you have had enough make sure to cover your glass with a coaster, otherwise you won't stop being served.
The Jagerschitzel and Pherd (Horse) steak were delicious. The dishes are huge and you won't need to start with an appetizer even if you were starving all day.
Bottom line, absolutely unforgettable experience. From now on, all roads in Koln will lead me to one place - Max Stark

Back in Black

by wilocrek

There is nothing quite as stunning as walking out of the Cologne train station and being greeted by the twin, black, gothic spires that stretch high into the sky. This cathedral has withstood bombings and time itself and is definitely worth visiting. Plus when was the last time you saw a black cathedral, it looks like a burnt piece of toast!

Awe inspiring interior of the Dom

by richiecdisc

As impressive as the view is from across the Rhine or even from the outside up close, it is truly awe inspiring to look up when inside the cathedral. It truly is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. You can enter from 7 am-7 pm daily with no admission charge unless you want to climb 509 steps to the steeple's base for a bird's eye view of the Rhine or see the fairly mundane treasury. Unless you have a lot of time, your time might be better spent taking in the Adoration of the Magi or the Magi's shrine.
