I heard of this product since I was about age 4. 4711 is classified as a refined, fruity fragrance. This unisex scent possesses a blend of sandalwood oils, citrus fruits, oranges, lemons, and grapefruit, created by the design house of Muelhens in 1792. Eau de Cologne introduced 1709 in Cologne, Germany, by Jean Marie Farina. It was made before 1700 by Paul Feminis, an Italian in Cologne, and was based on bergamot and other citrus oils. The water of Cologne was believed to have the power to ward off bubonic plague.
Irish Friendliness
by cvsolfari about Jameson's Irish Pub
A classic Irish pub that doesn't try to hard to cater to anyone but the hard-drinking, fun-loving crowd. If you don't want your clothes to smell like smoke then try California because there isn't anywhere in Cologne for that! Anything goes...

This is the main station. It is a huge station with lots of shops, food outlets and a post office.
It also has a very clever left luggage system. There are several ehm I guess I'd call them metal cabinets. I thought it was the usual affair put your luggage in take a key remember the number and come back to your locker to retrieve your luggage, but no this system is much smarter than that. You pop in your € 3 and a door opens, you deposit your luggage and the machine gives you a little card with a magnetic strip on it. Your luggage then disappears somewhere in the bowels of the station.
On your return you insert the card into the machine at ANY of the little metal "cabinets" and within 40 seconds your luggage is returned to you :-) fiendishly clever these Germans.
Local pub / restaurant at Mulheim
by SWFC_Fan about Siebert's Eck
Siebert's Eck is a local pub/restaurant in the suburb of Mulheim. To get here from Cologne city centre takes about 10 minutes on the Stadtbahn (see my transport tip for more details).
This restaurant is located on the corner of Genovevastrasse and Wiener Platz and seems to attract a largely local clientele as opposed to tourists. There is a small outdoor seating area, which was empty at the time of my visit, and a fairly small interior which was very busy with regular patrons.
I was staying at a hotel almost next door to this restaurant, and so I passed by it frequently during my stay in Cologne. It was particularly busy in the evenings with people either enjoying the World Cup football matches that were being screened there or enjoying a meal outdoors in the early evening sunshine.
The food menu was not particularly extensive and comprised mainly local specialities such as bratwurst and other meat dishes, as well as desserts such as apple strudel. Main courses cost between 8 and 12 Euros.
I didn't eat here during my stay, but I sat outside in the sunshine with a large weissbier (3.10 Euros) one afternoon while reading a book.
The staff were pretty miserable, or maybe they were not accustomed to dealing with tourists.
Very much a local pub/restaurant. If you're staying in Mulheim it's as good a place as any for a beer and a snack. If you're not staying in Mulheim, don't go out of your way to visit.

The 4711 house is where the perfume 4711 started, originally a health drink. A carillon plays at regular times. The number 4711 is the house number from when houses did not have street names in the address. Now you can browse or buy in the shop.
