Traveling by car from Cologne to Cannes

by sanr

Can anyone tell me if this is "do-able" on a four day trip?

RE: Traveling by car from Cologne to Cannes

Of course. I did the distance from Essen to Paris in half a day with relax driving, so you should be able to make it in a full day or day and a half I guess.

Technically yes - but you will spend a full day (early morning to late evening) to drive one way. It is not a good relation of travel time to sightseeing. I would suggest looking for a cheap flight to Nice or Marseilles, from Cologne or Düsseldorf.

I wouldn't do this - it is too long a journey for such a short trip. We flew from dusseldorf to Nice with DBA airlines, for about 45 euros one way including taxes - it was an excellent airline. Nice to Cannes isn't too far and you can get a train to dusseldorf airport from Cologne.

Hohenzollern Bridge

3. A double-decker regional train on the bridge

This has got to be one of the world's busiest railroad bridges. Actually it consists of three parallel bridges with a total of six tracks leading directly into Cologne central station. And as you can see it has a pathway on the side which is very popular with cyclists and pedestrians.

At Cologne central station there are 1230 trains per day, most of which cross over these bridges, so you rarely see the bridges without at least one train on them, sometimes two or more.

Local Hero 'Helden'

by Bigs about Local Hero 'Helden'

This bar´s interieur is very funny. It´s kind of a sportsbar and you find all the things that you will find in a gym....So you might have a table tennis plate while you are sitting on a horse.....Great idea!
TV Sport Events on a big screen. Good food available!

The old City Hall

In front of the Wallraf Museum there is an archeological site in which foundations of Cologne's medieval Jewish Quarter are being excavated and studied. And off to the right is the old City Hall.

This is said to be the oldest city hall in Germany, since it was built in this form in the 14th century on a site that had been used for the same purpose in Roman times and throughout the Middle Ages.

Most of the City Hall was destroyed during the Second World War, but the Renaissance loggia at the front of the building remained largely intact. The destroyed parts of the building were reconstructed, starting in the years 1954-56.
