Köln Tourismus
by johngayton
The city's main tourist office is the Köln Tourismus building at Kardinal-Höffner-Platz 1 (Tel.+49 (0) 221.22 13 04 00) just across the road from the Dom/Hauptbahnhof U-bahn station. Here you can get multi-lingual information regarding anything you could possibly want to know about. They also offer accommodation assistance, event booking and organised tours.
The office has the usual freebie leaflets and maps as well as postcards, guidebooks and souvenirs for sale.
The website is pretty comprehensive and has options in English, French and Spanish - Köln Tourismus
Sorry the pic's not a very good one as the office was sheathed in scaffolding during my visit, but it does at least show the location.

Visit the Rhein river on a not-so-crowded place in
summer. For example, take a U-Bahn/Straßenbahn to
'Boltensternstraße' station (line 15,16) and head
for East between the buildings, 10 minutes by feet.
There are large areas of grass before the Rhein,
and behind a last line of bushes before it, there's
lots of space to sit undisturbed at the Rhein shore.
Good for playing the guitar and similar activities.
:-)
oh, and for tram/bus/local trains, you can get
'Minifahrpläne', whole schedules for every line
as PDF for a quick print-out in advance, here:

Cologne Bonn Airport
by diocletianvs
Cologne Bonn Airport "Konrad Adenauer" (CGN) was the main airport of Bonn at the times it was the capital of West Germany and Terminal 1 shows the joys of the cold war by its béton brut structure and prevailing grey colours.
Today CGN is Germanwings capital as well as hub for some other budget airlines that shows in new light and colorful Terminal 2 building.
This is also shown on their useful and colorful website that has the same pictograms you'll find all over the place - it's well organized, informative, colorful, well designed and definitely worth checking even if you have no intention to fly to CGN soon.

The Bauturm Cafe and Theatre
It's quite a normal place but I love it! Great for breakfast! I haven't been to the theatre though... Breakfast as you want it. Just pick the things you like and order them.
Colourful Houses
by sandysmith
The old 13-15th century houses of the Fischmarkt are amongst the most colouful and popular of Cologne. Plus no scaffolding here!! They are in a pleasant little square fronting the Rhine in the old town. Lovely place to have a wander and have a drink or a meal - the houses are all restaurants.
