Great Little Place
We only had 3 nights in this hotel but it was enough for us to want to go back again. Just 5minutes walk from the beautiful Koln Cathedral, we found this little hotel to be perfect for seeing the sights. The room we had was on the ground floor and huge. Three females in one room is heavy going but we had 3 proper single beds..no put-you-up stuck in a corner and the bathroom was big enough for the three of us to get in all at the same time!! What did strike us was the friendliness of the Reception staff, who really couldnt have done more to make us feel at home. Breakfast was buffet and international, so apart from the continental croissants and danish pastries, there were also eggs and bacon.This hotel was originally built in 1850 and still stands in an historical building but was remodernised in 2002. Would recommend this place to anyone.
Unique Quality: Small and comfy with a big heart.

Fantastic Find
We stayed in a large 3 bedded room (3rd bed was a put-you-up but with proper mattress) which was funkily decorated and had a large, well-equipped bathroom.
This was a great place, staff were amazingly helpful, the hotel was very modern and decorated with some fun quirks and breakfast buffet was ample.
Just a short, hop, skip and a jump from cathedral, shopping areas, bars etc. We would definitely return here.

Resting by the Rein
Five blocks from the main train station, this well maintained hotel is in a quiet neighborhood. There’s a church across the street that likes to ring its bell every hour, but that stops during the night. An enclosed garden in the back plays host to patio dwellers, but they’re sent off to bed at midnight. As you can see, the bed and room are typically German in their narrowness. You pretty much have to get out of bed if you want to roll over. The price was right though, breakfast was included and there were no additional taxes.
Unique Quality: I’ve never seen an elevator like this one. You press the floor that you want to go to BEFORE getting into the elevator. Once in the elevator you can’t change your mind. There are buttons to open and close the doors but there is no floor selection in the elevator.

Airport transfer
6 of us are staying at the Classic Hotel Harmonie on Ursulaplatz in December. how much is the cost of a minibus from the airport, or whould the train be easier as the station is only 300mtrs from the hotel?

20 km = EUR 31,50 plus surcharge minibus of EUR 4,70.
Estimated travel time (route planer) 45 minutes.
Cologne Hauptbahnhof (main station) to the airport is by regional trains 11 minutes and by S-Bahn 14 minutes. Single ticket is EUR 2,30. Mini group (up to 5 persons) day ticket is EUR 9,80. But this one is only valid
Mo-Fr from 9am till 3am next day
Sa,Su from midnight till 3am next day

Most definately use the train. It takes you strait into the airport in just a few minutes.
