On arrival we were greated by friendly reception staff in German, although they speak some English.
Swiftly found our reservation & directed us to our room.
Although we had booked a double room, the beds were 2 singles which we had to push together but this is typical off all German hotels we have stayed in.
MIni bar was well stocked but pricey.
TV had chanels in 4 languages and signs were also multi lingual.
Spacious bathroom with good choice of toiletries and towels.
The shower was excellent.
Had a slight problem asking for extra pillows but after going down and asking reception a member of the housekeeping staff brought 2 up to us very quickly.
Although it was October the room was very warm and we had to leave the airconditioning on most of the time.
Small bar area that became very smokey & crowded at times. No seperate area for non smokers which was annoying.
Poor choice of local wines, serving mainly Italian wines as it's an italian owned chain.
Prices in the bar comparable to those in the main part of Cologne.
The buffet breakfast was 1st class with plenty of choice for meat eaters & non meat eaters.
Service was swift when you wanted it and they were always very helpful refilling your coffee cup without any prompting.
Very polite & friendly multi lingual staff. Theme: HotelDirections: Media district about a 15 - 20 min walk from the city centre. 5 mins from Christophstrasse U bahn stop but can be quicker to walk as trains were infrequent.
