It may have been a club you saw.

But this link:

http://www.awccologne.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=20&Itemid=41

suggests this company:

http://www.gillaux-ballooning.de/ (in German, but I'm sure they will be able to reply to an email in English if you don't read German).

and gives the phone number for another one (I can't find a website for it, and am a bit dubious about its existence under that name).

There's also:

I found the tourist information very helpful. They're just opposite the cathedral and the train station. Last time I was in Cologne I had a very specific question, which took some time to anwer, but they didn't give up, got the information and printed it out.I'm sure if you go and ask them, they'll be able to point you towards the right organisation.

Travel Tips for Cologne

Ancient Roman City

by Rupanworld

Cologne is an ancient city dating back perhaps as early as 38 BC when the Roman Empire established a colony here and it came to be known as Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippensium in the year 50 AD, from which name the modern name of Cologne is derieved. It was a prosperous independent town with about 20,000 residents surrounded by 3.9 kilometer long city walls.

Früh

by Gili_S

This is one of the most popular beers here, it is made in a local brewery in the city centre. I must say that I am a not a big fun of this beer, I think it will taste a lot better on a hot summer day by the river. Next time in Köln in the summer then.

Quite Deceiving

by keeweechic

There are enough bars and restaurants, but they are spread around to give a first impression of a quiet city centre, more like you would find in a sleepy French provincial town than in an industrial city of over a million inhabitants. This is a picture of a local Pub in the Old Town area.

Good choices all around

by Scandic about Sushi Nro1

Nice sushi place on the basement of a mall at Breite Strasse. The cook is from Japan and married with a german woman. They run this nice sushi place where in the meals are not that expensive and the fish tasted quite fresh. It is a nice spot for lunch sushi.

Dom du Koln (Cologne Cathedral)

by clarelim

Cologne Cathedral is the largest Gothic church in North Europe and is dedicated to Saint Peter and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Cathedral is open every day from 6am to 7.30pm and charges a small admission fee.

If you'd like, you can climb 509 steps of the spiral staircase to a viewing platform about 98 metres above the ground! This church is listed as UNESCO's World Heritage List of culturally important sites.

This cathedral apparently suffered 14 hits by WWII aerial bombs but didn't collapse!
