Football in the Stadium
by Spanish-eyes
Is there a football match in THE STADIUM over the weekend of December 17 through 20th.
My husband is a fanatic, and he fancies going to a match while we are there.

I am afraid that the German league will be already on its winter/Christmas break by this time. And the same with the UEFA cup games.

Hi Pamela,
unfortunenately Gil is right - soccer season is on its break then. but maybe there are some other activities then - you should get some information here:
www.stadion-live.de
Very advisable with a great atmosphere is also the "Arena auf schalke", a rather new stadion for more than 60.000 spectators - it´s not soooo far from Dortmund.

Have fun!!

hi there,
yes, bad news for fans. the last bundesliga match is at the 11.th Dec, on 15.16th Dec there is UEFA-Cup, but Dortmund isnt to see there.
Perhaps You have to choose hockey (Duesseldorf).
have fun

Travel Tips for Dortmund
Der Thueringer - Gaudi Alm
by yumyum
On the market square you also find another Der Thueringer restaurant namely the Gaudi Alm. Here local events take place.
We only had drinks one day on the outdoor seating area. I had an ice coffee which is not coffee flavoured ice cream like in Switzerland but cold iced coffee.

"A Semi-Final Extraveganza"
My first Europen Cup semi final. A good place for lager and football.
The natives were very friendly.
"Borussia Dortmund"
My first visit to Dortmund was for the UEFA Champions League Semi Final 1st Leg game.
Manchester United played Borussia Dortmund in the Westfalenstadion on 9th April 1997. Unfortunately we lost 1-0.
Excellent place to have a party, especially to James Brown at half-time. Even had a good time after I broke my camera when Nicky Butt hit the post!
"Dortmund Badge"
A vibrant yellow was all around.
Need to take the sunglasses more often.
