Accomodation near Dortmund Fifa Worldcup stadium and transport after 2300
Hi there, we will be heading to Dortmund for a preliminary match btw Brazil and Japan on 22 June!!
We prefer not to take public transport with some 60000 crowd when the match finish at 2300. So, if anyone know there is any cheap accomodation located within 2km radius from the venue (Strobelallee 50. D-44139 Dortmund), please advice.
I've tried Ibis Dortmund City Hotel suggested by Fifa Worldcup organiser, it's fully booked unfortunately.
Or, what is the public transport service looks like after 2300? e.g convenience and security?
Any info is greatly appreciated!

a) there are closeby hotels
b) close + World Cup + cheap ==> this won't work
You're lucky if you are able to find something in Dortmund at all.
If you stay inside the security zone around a stadium (and these can be up to two kilometers) you also have to be prepared that you need special papers to get into this area at all. Esp. with a car.
23:00 is no problem. Even on normal weekdays during the year normal service runs till 00:30-01:00. If there are bigger events there will be additional services.
Security is also normally no problem. It is however difficult to predict how some football fans will behave.
Travel Tips for Dortmund
nice little church
Certainly off the beaten track this. Tucked away in the suburb of Wellinghofen is one of the oldest churches in the whole area. Built in place of a 9th century wooden structure, the present church dates back to the 12th century, with some extensions from the 15th. It's small, cosy, and the best thing is that during renovations the original 12th century wall decorations were discovered and the whole interior redone in the original style. It also boast one of the biggest baptismal fonts ever, you can almost bathe in it.
Ask for the key at the parish hall opposite the church.
Dortmund; 7th largest german city
"Quiet, nice GErmany"
Another quick trip, our first time to GErmany. We were impressed by a few facts; most people speak English perfectly, the city (this one) is pretty new, but what we were most impressed by was the people. We had a wrong idea about germans, thinking they were rough, cold and apathic. WE were very wrong! Every single person I spoke to that was GErman (at least 50) was nice and very willing to help. One thingh thou, we felt really weird among them; neither if us knows German and it sounded soooooooooooooo harsh!
That you people of Dortmund for lettting us get to know you better and give us such a noce impression.
