Any recommendable guesthouse or hotel for K2010?
by Hui-Hui
The company which I work for is planning to participate in K2010 in Duesseldorf from 27 Oct. to 3 Nov. 2010. The show venue is at Duesseldorf Fairgrounds.
Are there any recommendable guesthouse or hotel for 7 people? We would like to stay close to Duesseldorf Fairgrounds or in the oldtown of the city with good rate.
Thank you very much for your kind attention and assistance in advance!

Hi Hui-hui,
in general hotels increase their rates during major fairs drastically. You should consult the following pages for hotel search:
www.hotel.de or www.hrs.de or ebooking.com
Always crosscheck rates. Rate for the same hotel in same period varies from provider to provider.
Enjoy the trip and the fair

The hotel that I have used several times is Hotel Lindenhof on Ost Strasse across from the Schumacher Brewery. It was about 60 Euro for two, not Messe time though. Nice clean hotel great lacation, 5 blocks from the HbF. Less than two blocks to the U Bahn to the Alt Stadt or Messe. There maybe more info on my Lindenhof posting.
Best regards,
Chuck

The company i work for prefers a small guesthouse called "Gästehaus Münks" for trade-fairs. It's quite cheap, very homely and close to the fairgrounds (20 Minutes to drive). The only disadvantage: It is not in the center of Düsseldorf but at the other side of river rhine in the small village of Osterath. So you have to take a car or taxi to get to the fairgrounds. But in the evening you can catch a train from Osterath to the famous Düsseldorf Old Town which takes about 30 Minutes.

Hi Huihui & all the others,
I suggest the maritim Airport-hotel, close to Düsseldorfs international Airport.
Its more than close to the fairgrounds. furthermore, its also very close to "the worlds largest bar" - if you need to relax after a hard days work.....
Hope i could help you. Colares is also right, though......
Travel Tips for Düsseldorf
Friend And Tour Guide...

Favourite thing about Dusseldorf? My friend Sabsi, who provided us with accomodation, transport and a free sightseeing tour of Dusseldorf and the Rhineland! Some of the very funny times we had together. I can hardly remember when I laughed so much.
Dussel
by sandysmith
With the Rhine on its banks its easy to forget that the Dussel flows through Dusseldorf - this was just on the outskirts near where we were staying with our VT host - a pleasant tree-lined avenue, yet just a short tram ride away from the centre.
Central Train Station
by sandysmith
Not sure why this is the CENTRAL train station in Dusseldorf - it hardly lives up to its name. Buses and trams connect well here but its a way out from the shopping centre or the Aldstadt - best to hop on a tram or bus for that. Vey busy place at rush hour.
Some hot thai food
by Bigs about Prickynoo
It looks more like a fast food temple from the outside, but inside it´s quite charming with all the golden statues around....The food was excellent and not so expensive for Düsseldorf. I had Gaeng Phet Nua, beef with red curry, mushrooms, pepper, corn, pineapple bamboo, zuchini and coconut milk....
It wasn´t too hot and very tasty....
Pleasure in Baroque
by IceBear7
The palace of Benrath in the South of Düsseldorf is ABSOLUTELY beautiful! A huge lake in front of it with a fountain, beautiful Baroque buildings as you can see in the picture and a huge park on the back with baroque-style footpaths, hidden huts and lots of spaces for sunbathing.
There is a cafe on the premises and the shopping area of Benrath close by to get some drinks and ice cream - a place to spend lazy summer days in.
