Take the time to really...
by phasade
Take the time to really explore the Altstadt. Not just a quick run though or run for beer (though that is fun as well). I looked for and found new places, stautes, views my first four or five visits - and still run into an occasional new treat in the Altstadt.
Goethe Museum
by IceBear7
I've always been fascinated by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, one of the most famous German authors... I liked his plays and novels and poems, the story of his own life, the stories of his women, he spoke so many languges, was in expert in sciences, interesteded in arts and music and yet seemed to be a down-to-earth person.
There are the famous places of Frankfurt and Weimar, that are connected to Goethe. In D?sseldorf, he never lived but always came to visit friends, like a guy called Jacobi for example. The Goethe Museum in D?sseldorf is small an not half as important as the ones in Frankfurt or Weimar. There are paintings and books, letters and notes, old furniture and exhibits, bringing together Goethe and his time.
The museum is inside a beautiful old building, Schloss Jägerhof, not far from the Hofgarten, a visit makes you forget a little of the world outside!
Airport Niederrhein
by Gili_S
This airport is commonly referred as Airport Niederrhein near Düsseldorf. It is not really very near, but still there is a great chance that you will use this airport as the popular airline Ryanair uses this airport. You can get very cheap flights to/from several destinations around Europe.
Fast Food from the Lebanon
by IceBear7 about Libanon Express
Maybe the best fast food you get in Düsseldorf, so much better than the huge burger outlets you find anywhere in the world.
At Libanon Express you get great Arabian dishes, full plates or just some tiny pieces of spinach in dough, falafel, grilled meat and chicken, mixed plates, salads and very sweet sweets for dessert.
All very fresh, very tasty, very healthy probably, and very friendly staff! I never had anything that I did not like!
landlocked ship
by Redlats
While walking along the Rheinpromenade, we also saw this landlocked ship. I did not see if it was a museum or anything, but obviously it is a replica. It will be something to check on my next visit to Düsseldorf.
