Work in Düsseldorf

by emerin76

Hi. I've lived in Australia all my life, but I also hold a valid UK passport, which obviously allows me to work in the EU. I'd just like to find out good ways of finding work in Düsseldorf, it's one place I'd like to spend alot of time. My german is not too bad either. I'd either like to take advantage of my English, or serve beers to the locals....any tips?

2 Words: FORGET IT!
No work in Germany no more! Except sweeping the streets or *** like that. Germany is dead, you cant get no work here no more, better stay out of this ***ing country and go somewhere else.

There are alway many exhibitions in Duesseldorf. Maybe you can get a job as hostess or something like that.

Here you may find more details. http://www.messe-duesseldorf.de/

Like Joe already said, it really depends on your qualifications and what you would like to do! As you live at the other end of the world it would be kind of difficult to come over for some interviews. And the high unemployment rate we have actually in Germany doesn't make it easier.

Have a look on some of the job markets you find in the internet like: www.monster.de, www.jobpilot.de or you could try one of the temporary employment companies like www.manpower.de, www. randstad.de, www.adecco.de or www.dis-ag.de.

The Federal Employment Office has a internet page as well: http://www.arbeitsamt.de

Good Luck!

Hi,
you should try to contact our Arbeitsamt which you can reach now at www.arbeitsagentur.de, the phonenumber of the Düsseldorfer Arbeitsamt is: 0049/211/692-0. If you woul like to work on a fair you can call 0049/211/692-1336, for jobs -1342, for working in pubs, restaurants ect. -1315. The job office of the university has the number 0049/211/811-3271. Good luck, right now it's really, really hard to find even a simple job here (I know that unfortunately). Take care.

Travel Tips for Düsseldorf

Typical old bath

by wilde13

The M?nsterbad is build in 1902 originally.
It has been renovated recently and it is looking like good old days. It is a special feeling.
There is only one pool inside and a sole outside. Do not expect special issue, just than the real feeling of water. Indoor Pool with 30?
Outside thermals sole 32?
Sauna

Kirmesfähre

by IceBear7

This ferry over the Rhein river runs only about 10 days every year, during our Kirmes. It takes you from the Altstadt (city center) across the river to the funfair.

Very useful, coz it takes a long time to walk over, and there's never any parking space.

Frankenheim Brauereiausschank

by Gili_S about Frankenheim Brauereiausschank

This restaurant is not in the old city (for a change), it was VT member sabsi that took us here, she knew that I want to have Alt bier and Schnitzel and here they really have good ones. Hemmm, the Schnitzel of course and the Fankenheim Alt Beer is wonderful.

Stadtmuseum

by antistar

A stone's throw away from the Film and Hetjens Museums is the Stadtmuseum for the city of Dusseldorf. It backs onto the pretty little park of Spee'scher Gaben, and contains a collection that details the history of the city and the region from pre-history to the present day.

Opening Hours

Tue-Sun 11am-5pm
Late opening until 9pm on Wednesdays.
Closed Mondays.

Entry: €2.60 adults.

Kirmes am Rhein

by sabsi

The biggest funfair at the Rhine and a great atmosphere. Make sure you try out all the different kinds of Altbier as I just did öcojnbfa fakjfnasfa f.,asmfns aöflkjnasöfn asökfjnsaö mdsamdfn-sa ;-)

A nice way to get to the fairground is to take the Kirmes ferry from the boat landing in the old town. It's € 1.50 for the trip over the Rhine!
