Dear all , me and my friend will come to Dusseldorf for a couple of days arriving Thursday night after 1 am.
I am indecuded between two hotels, one is NH Düsseldorf City-Center(near Königsalle) amd the other is a Best Western Ambassador hotel (near the train station). We want to stay near pubs and nightlife, which one do you reccomend???(unfortunately all hotels in the old town close check in at about midninght so I can not choose them!).
Moreover we arrive late on Thursday at about 1,30 am, is there any nice late pubs or nice discos that will be open on Thursday until very late? if yes can you reccomend some??
waiting for your replies, the more the better!!!! thanks in advance!!

Hi there,
in Düsseldorf the club and pub density is highest in the old town. NH Düsseldorf City Centre is slightly closer to that area. There also are some clubs right at Königsallee.
Most venues will close around 1 am on working days. Though bigger clubs are open until 5 or even 6 in the morning. Have a look at

for more info.

First choice for sure. I was on vication there and it's great historical, culture place with lot of boutiques lol but anyway your choice in visiting this city isn't wrong at all. You will enjoy for sure. Have fun

NH Dusseldorf is your best bet but as you are likely to arrive at 1.30am by the time you check in and get out your choice will be limited. Ask the Night porter to recommend somewhere but don't be surprised if it needs a taxi and don't be surprised if the words pub and disco mean nothing to them. The great thing about the Altstadt is it is full of bars, cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes. Unfortunately there are people who want pubs and discos which are international words and attitudes. There are great music bars and great drinking bars in Dusseldorf. They are not pubs and discos! If you want some late night bars the area of the Turkish quarter down from the railway station is good. I think it's great but it is a different culture but I wonder if what I think is fine meets your definition of nice. Enjoy Dusseldorf for what it is and not what you would like to be transported from somewhere else.

Behind the border Düsseldorf, the biggest european industry area starts with many old industry buildings getting demolished or transfered for other occasions.
As best example see an old steel mill in Duisburg.

When night falls in Duisburg, the blast furnaces flash up. Neon green and other bright colors - art(ificial) light - illuminate the sky, as Park & Light comes into action. Jonathan Park, the British light artist, has created a spectacular event.

planes, trains, automobiles

I've arrived many ways to the city of Alt. My first two visits were via train. The ICE (InterCity Express) train from Bamberg was expensive at 151 DM (about 70 dollars) for the five hour trip in 2001.

My last two visits were by plane since it was my entry point to Germany from Florida. The nine hour flight from Miami on LTU runs about $650 in shoulder season. Düsseldorf is a bit of a hub so we can easily get to Dresden where my wife's family lives in about an hour with price varying greatly depending on how early you book

Great tram system to get to outskirts but the Old Town is easily explored on foot.

This was my first sight in Düsseldorf outside of the station, and I found it somewhat of a regular hub on my walks around the city. Carlsplatz is a busy market, and easily reached from the station, walking straight up the Friedrich-Ebert-Str directly in front of the main exit to the station, and just walking until you reach the market place. The market place itself used to be for the local farmers, but is now, as you might expect of a city like Düsseldorf, a "gourmet's paradise", as the tourist blurb states.

Apart from being a good place to buy fresh food, it is also conveniently close to a number of good places to eat and drink, like Uerige's traditional brewery.

Yell yell yellow!

by Goldenboy

Its just yellow big building, and not love. Promise, it wont make driver passing by get blind. But still noticable and quite different style compare to buildings surround. Serious serious, its a St. Maximillian building. Im not spending long time here. I skip it to be in modern museum, next to this building.
