Fun cities to stay in Near Dusseldorf

by missKTM132

My friend and I are visiting Dusseldorf and are looking for a fun city to stay at for a few days that would be on the way or not too far out of the way from Amsterdam because that would be our next destination. Any suggestions for two 21 year old girls?

Maastricht. Incidentally, I would not expect students to be hanging around in student towns at the moment: most of them are now on holiday until September.

Why do you like to go to another city? Düsseldorf is a fun city! The old town has got the highest density of bars, clubs, restaurants and many other locations in whole germany. Escpecially at summer weekends many young people visit it to have fun and streets of old town are full of party people. Don't miss it.

Travel Tips for Düsseldorf

Ever seen a frog?

by matjung

Yes, you are right. Come to the right place to the right time and you can see frogs.

It is forbidden to catch and eat the frogs!

If you wanna see them, head for the Botanic Garden.
Take tram 707 from rail station towards university.

Airline LTU.

by a5floor

In 2008 I went to the Maldives. I flew from Düsseldorf International Airport to here. The airline I used was LTU. This airline is part of Air Berlin. It was a pleasant experience to fly with this airline. Especially I was using business class. The staff was friendly. What do you need more?

Breakfast!!!!!!!!

by Bigs about Ab der Fisch

Oh, I really love the food here....Very "famous" is the Parmesan-Rucola-Egg...it´s even known in Darlington for example :)

Just sit ouside on the wooden benches and enjoy a summer morning or afternoon or evening here..... The have changing menus.... I had an Italian Bagel with Bresaola ham, rucola, dried tomatoes and an egg on it. It was really delicious but a mess to eat it.

Museum, as you know

by Goldenboy

You choose what you like to do. Exploring the old castle tower houses the Schifffahrt museum im Schlossturm (shipping museum), which shows 2000 years of navigation on the Rhine, enjoy the view of neighbourhood surrounding from the top, or even capturing the building itself. As for me, i choose to do all. And for sure taking picture of this building from several angel. Just be sure to enjoy Rhein river and Rheinturm from here. Marvelous!

Quoting the brochures: The mighty castle of the Count of Berg and the later Dukes of Jülich - Kleve - Berg stood at this place. Nowadays, a former side tower of a later baroque palace is all that remains. The palace burned down in 1872, the ruins were completely demolished in 1888. Since the opening of the Rhine embankment tunnel (1995), Burgplatz - awarded a prize as one of the most beautiful squares of post-war Germany - is again situated directly on the Rhine.
