Last minute thoughts -- any great ice cream shops, resteraunts, bars, show, clubs, museums, etc. that we need to consider. How is the weather predicted to be, etc.
As for ice cream in the Old Town: Try "Pia" - that's where everybody gets their icecream. It's near Heinrich-Heine-Allee tram stop. In case you want to experience even better icecream you need to leave the city centre and go to "Unbehaun" around Aachener Straße.
The best beer in the old town: Uerige (only after the third beer its delicious!) and Schlüssel.
It's supposed to be very hot with showers and/or thunderstorms.

You will not particularly recall Düsseldorf for its old buildings, but there a few neat examples of ancient architecture in the Altstadt, that give you an idea of what this little provincial town could have looked like before the industrial revolution.
Kalkum Castle, in the northern suburb Kalkum, is a very old and beautiful with a nice park surrounding it! It is not as famous and huge as Benrath Castle in the south, but most people never get a chance to see it, just because no travel information gives out the proper information! If u have the time, take a streetcar to the north and have a look! You won´t regret it...
Oh, and when ur there... don´t hesitate to drop in at my place for a coffee, i just live a 2mins walk away =)
Well we were bleary eyed after our bad trip back from Aachen so it was a late breakfast well brunch actually. Different types of breafast to choose from here :-
Sabsi had the large breakfast - meats, cheese, fruit, jams and yoghurts and and a whole loaf of breads!
Dave had American style - more like English I think with egg/bacon/sausage and beans.
I had a Spanish breakfast - filled tortilla with fried egg on top, bacon and chorizo sausage meat and loads of bread. They all came with salad too!
Really delicious and a friendly relaxing setting.
Perfect for a lazy start before setting offf for sightseeing in the afternoon.
Well, Bruhl, where Phantasialand -the german Disneyland- is located, isn't so near to Dusseldorf, it is much closer to Cologne. But it is a place that you must visit, independently if you have children or not...
