DB timetable
From: Duesseldorf Messe Nord
From: Duesseldorf Messe Ost
To: K

Basically Stadtbahn (mixture of tram and metro) to Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) and from there by train to Cologne.

Single ticket is you stick to local public transport (i.e. RE trains or S-Bahn from Düssseldorf to Cologne) is EUR 9,30. This is a zone-to-zone tickets. It is good for to any train/tram/bus stop in Cologne.
To ensure connections you can use with this ticket select at the DB timetable as means of transport "only local transport".

Travel Tips for Düsseldorf

In front of the Town Hall

by AndyRG

This is the statue of Jan Wellem Reiterdenkmal on horseback at the Rathausplatz (square of Rathaus=Town Hall). At the old part of the city, there are many historical buildings and... hundreds of bars. You can also visit numerous interesting places, as the Opera House, a lot of museums (e.x. Goethe Museum), theaters, Aquazoo at Nordpark, Kaiserwerth (a historical city quarter with ruins of a palace), Hofgarten etc.

Best Ice Cream In Town (continued)...

by steventilly

It seemed like everyone who came this way was heading for the ice cream shop. As we stood outside eating our tubs we'd take bets on who was gonna go into the shop and who was gonna pass by. Most people went in, even joggers, so it was easy money.
These two girls had that look in their eyes - it was a dead cert they were gonna go in for ice creams. In fact, I rather think they were gonna rob the place!

Düsseldorf's Airport

by sabsi

Düsseldorf's Airport is the biggest one in the region and one of the biggest airports in Germany. There are three terminals, A, B and C.

It's easy to reach by car and by S-Bahn from Düsseldorf. By S-Bahn you get from Düsseldorf main station (Hauptbahnhof) to the airport in 11 minutes. Take S1 and leave the train at Düsseldorf-Flughafen Bahnhof. From there the skytrain will take you to the terminal. The S7 even goes directly to the airport terminal building (Flughafen Terminal). It takes 14 minutes.

This airport also is linked to lots of memories for me as it's also the airport from where I started my first flight ever (see picture and guess where I went :-) and it's the airport where I said Hello too few and Good Bye too many times ;)

Modern Art in K21

by Helga67

This museum offers you modern art of the 21th century. Don't miss the upper floor with the glass cupola where you'll have a nice view of Duesseldorf.

Opening hours: Tuesday -Friday: 10 am to 6 pm; weekends and public holidays: 11 am to 6 pm.

Admission: 6.5 EUR

Film Museum

by antistar

This probably won't appeal to many people except those keen on German cinema. There are some interesting exhibits, such as the 19th century 3D photographs (astonishing quality for the time) and the proto-animation techniques, but nothing really stood out and grabbed my attention. I did like watching the clip from Battleship Potemkin, but I can watch that on DVD whenever I like anyway.
