We spent a pleasant night at the Hilton in Düsseldorf. The hotel is located outside the city center and we had the option of taking the nearby U-bahn into town or walking along the river for about 30 minutes. Hubby and I opted to walk since that is our preferred method wherever we go – we get some exercise and can enjoy the scenery along the way.
We stayed in a very clean and updated king deluxe room, having been upgraded based on our HiltonHonors membership. Upon arrival, our room had a note from the manager along with a nice welcome gift of fruit, a snack bar, and a bottle of wine. As HiltonHonors members, we also had free wi-fi.
We settled into our room, Hubby hit the exercise room, and then we headed to the front desk for some details about specific places in Düsseldorf to visit. Admittedly, we were here for primarily one reason – Hubby was hoping to sample several local beers, especially the Düsseldorf Alt beer.
The Hilton staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Not only did they provide us with an excellent map of the area, they showed us on the map where each of the breweries was located (five of them) and pointed out some other sights that might be of interest. Each time we visited the front desk, we were extremely pleased with the service we received.
A buffet breakfast came with our room the next morning, and we were more than satisfied with the meal. The staff was efficient and the food excellent.
Parking typically is not included with the room and to park in the hotel garage costs €22/night. However, we found free parking in a lot beside the hotel and used that instead. It was a weekend and I had the impression that free parking might be more difficult to find during the week – it seemed to be a more business oriented hotel with its large conference center.
Would I stay at the Düsseldorf Hilton again? Yes; in fact, we are already planning to go back up that way in the near future and will use the same hotel. Cleanliness, cost, service, and location make this a superior choice.
