Any midnight train from Dusseldorf to Frankfurt?

by Frenchpromo

Hiya,

What is the last train from Dusseldorf Main Station to Frankfurt Main Station? Are there any train service past midnight, say 2am, 3am in the morning to Frankurt? Does the ticket office open 24 hours in Dusseldorf? Can I purchase the ticket on the midnight train itself?

How long is the train journey from Dusseldorf to Frankurt?

Thanks!

There is a train leaving Düsseldorf at 3:02,arriving in Frankfurt at 7:02. You can buy your ticket on the train, but there'll be a surcharge. Much easier to print out your ticket at home. Go to www.bahn.de, register, book and print out your ticket. Just remember to bring the very same credit card you used for booking, this is used to verify your ticket.

When you type Düsseldorf, don't just leave out the two dots. If you cannot type Ü, use UE.

You can find train times, details and fares in English here:

http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml

Type 'duesseldorf'. There is a train at 0302.

You can buy your tickets online beforehand as christine suggests (it is essential you bring the same card with you to show the guard) or can buy it from ticket machines at the station. these have English language options, but it would be best to ensure you have the correct amount in cash to pay for the ticket. Cards without chip technology will not work in machines, and there is always the possibility that yours might not even if it does have a chip. At that time of night it is better to be safe than sorry.

DB ticket machines do not take cash - cards only.

The ones I used this summer in took cash, Kathrin.

Everywhere I visited (basically, northern Bavaria) there were card-only machines and cash machines as well. Has that changed recently?

Those ticket machines of the local transport carriers take cash. However, I have never seen any of the red DB ticket machines that does, they usually are cards only.

When I was in Nurnberg, Wurzburg etc this summer there were rows of machines (I assume DB?) which were indeed mostly for cards but always included at least one cash machine.

Travel Tips for Düsseldorf

Germans love dogs

by martin_nl

Yep they do, they take care of their dogs. If you see a dog and find it's owner they will most likely have a tennis ball with them, for the dog to play with. Sometimes however the tennis ball ends up in places you don't want. This same thing happened over here. It is a watefall sort of thing right next to the Rhine. The tennis ended up in it and so did the dog. However the dog couldn't get it out of the water and a whole crowd gathered to take a look at the dog.

MENSCH

A place for fitnessing, indoor climbing, beach soccer and beach volleyball. Always busy, in an old industrial hall. I love the fitness classes and go climbing every now and then but I don't like the walls there too much.

Beach fields are always busy and it gives you a bit of holiday feeling when you watch the guys&girls in the sand while you're exercising. All equipment for rent, but everything could be better.

Train

There are excellent connetion to Dusseldorf by trains from all over Germany and the netherlands.
It is easy to use and there are also special family tickets on sale in lower cost if you use the regional trains or S-Bahn.

Yeah, sausage and beer! :-P

We all felt tired after one-day walking, and desired for an abound dinner.
Actually there are many big or small restaurants along the street. However, none of us had idea which one should we go into. Finally, we stoped in front of one restaurant(more like a bar, in fact). The amazing thing was very few persons were walking on the street that time, but there was a jam right before the door! Many people even drank outside coz no more seats in it!
We were so curious what really attracted?
Then we got in. Luckily, we got seats soon.
It's a big bar, decorated with traditional stuffs, as well as many interesting, modern things.
I guess everyone heard Sausage and Beer are very famous in Germany. So do we, and we ordered a big dish.

We did enjoy the taste of sausage and beer there. So unforgetable. Guys served there are friendly, they took pictures for us when we ate in high mood! :) Sausage and Beer!

Hofgarten

It is the park nearby my apartment where I usually jog ... it is quite huge park and divided into three parts...one of its parts is connected to the small garden in front of Tonhalle and you only have to cross the road to reach the Rhine promenade. The other part which closes to Jacobistrasse has a music pavilion and sometimes they have open air music concert there. I really love this park!
